St. Vincent de Paul to hold 7th annual Joy of Giving Telethon

St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) will hold their 7th annual Joy of Giving Telethon on Wednesday, December 4 on WXYZ-TV Channel 7. This community-wide fundraising effort is the non-profit’s largest of the year, and will focus on the moving stories of how SVdP is helping our most vulnerable neighbors in Southeast Michigan.
The all-day telethon will broadcast from 5:30am-11:30pm and will air inspiring stories of hope by highlighting the clients which SVdP serves in Southeast Michigan. In one story, the Telethon will feature SVdP’s dental clinic showing an army veteran who re-gained his self-esteem with a new smile after losing this teeth in the Iraqi war. Another segment highlights a hard working mother of five who is sending her children to college, and another features Sister Caroline who at age 82 drives her own car through the hard streets of Detroit visiting and helping those in need. It will be a moving day, designed to show viewers the good work of SVdP and the non-profit’s need for the community’s support.
A variety of sponsors including: Quicken Loans, HAP, Weingartz, Alliance Catholic Credit Union, ITC Holdings, Westborn Markets and Daly Merritt Insurance will be on-site at the WXYZ studios to answer phones and encourage viewers to join the mission of St. Vincent de Paul as they share hope with hurting local families.

Detroit Lions alumni will be at the telethon alongside WXYZ host Vic Faust providing support and a helping hand.
For over 125 years, St. Vincent de Paul has provided vital services in Southeast Michigan, including food, shelter, medical and dental care, utility assistance, disaster relief and emergency support. Additionally, SVdP operates twelve thrift stores throughout the community and provides outreach programs to the youth and elderly including Camp Ozanam and the Matchan Nutrition Center.
